BBC, Microformats and RDFa - O'Reilly XML Blog

I’m not sure I have enough faith in the Microformats community to come to an agreement on this topic. In my short time following the various Microformats mailing lists, I quickly became disillusioned with the community and administrators. I witnessed several instances of heavy handed administration, including the banning of users. Frequently, no real reason was given and I was left w/ the impression that it wasn’t much of a community after all.
BBC - Radio Labs - Microformats and RDFa and RDF

My original post on removing microformats from /programmes seems to have kicked off quite a debate. Unfortunately some of this seems to have resulted in RDFa people criticising microformats and vice versa. Which wasn't really the intention.
hAccessibility redux? - The Web Standards Project

As with the debate over a year ago, the concerns raised are not about microformats as a whole being inaccessible. They’re not even strictly about the hCalendar microformat itself. The concerns are purely centred around the (mis)use of the ABBR design pattern.

BBC - Radio Labs - Removing Microformats from bbc.co.uk/programmes

There have been a number of concerns over hCalendar's use of the abbreviation design pattern. Until these issues are resolved the BBC semantic markup standards have been updated to prevent the use of non-human-readable text in abbreviations.

Tip: Use the new microformats API in your Firefox 3.0 Extensions

The upcoming Firefox 3.0 release has built-in support for microformats in the form of an API that you can access from a Firefox extension. In this tip, you follow a simple example of how to use this API from within your extension code. You take a skeleton Hello World extension and give it the ability to store an hCard from any Web page and then use that stored hCard to populate a Web form.
